Description
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in denied environments have to have a small radar cross section to prevent detection by enemy and be able to map their environment using radar and RF communications. Traditional Radar Absorbing Materials (RAM) are used to absorb radar’s Electro Magnetic (EM) energy to reduce an aircraft’s RCS but this material can be thick, heavy weight and have high material and maintenance costs. Notch’s metasurface technology can controllably diffuse enemy radar, reducing the UAV’s RCS, while allowing for the UAV to operate its own onboard RF systems and carry out its mission. Notch’s metasurface technology is light weight, inexpensive to manufacture and software controllable.
