Description

This proposal is for a Sequential Phase II for the Visual Interface for Sensor Team Aggregation (VISTA) project. In the Phase II effort we successfully developed and demonstrated VISTA capability for aggregating sensor data fro UAS swarms and presenting the data in a novel user interface applying principles of cognitive engineering for improving situational awareness in swarm management. The effort brought together algorithmic work in computer vision and image fusion, human factors design of the VISTA interface, integration with our multi-UAS mission planning tools, and integration with a UAS hardware platform to support field evaluation. In our Sequential Phase II we propose to continue our work on VISTA to support Advanced Teaming (A-TEAM) and more specifically CONOPS for managing swarms with a focus on Air Launched Effects (ALEs). We will address this objective from multiple aspects of the system. At the completion of the Sequential Phase II we will have a capacity at TRL 6-7 that can support VISTA integration with A_TEAM and other PEO UAS programs. As in the prior phases, we are joined on this effort by Professor Simon Lucey of Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute. Professor Lucey is a world leader in computer vision and image processing.
