Description

To improve the Navy’s unmanned vehicles performance in achieving sea/air domain mission goals, Photon-X proposes its Spatial Phase Imaging (SPI) 3D EO/IR Platform (Platform) to provide passive, high-resolution, dynamic, real-time 3D sensing and analytics for advanced ISR and autonomy. SPI captures an additional optical EO/IR dataset - shape. Deep learning/AI has disadvantages and limitations in autonomy, robotics, and ISR. The core of the issue resides not in the amount of data used to train the algorithms, but the limited amount of shape data provided by color and intensity - including thermal. Photon-X’s innovative solution not only assists the deep neural networks (DNN) with the nil conundrum but also is a superior system in dynamic and unpredictable operating environments, uniquely identifying objects, and guiding robotic and autonomy movements. The Platform can not only find, track, locate, and uniquely identify multiple fast-moving objects but also extract objects from their environments. As SPI sensors capture and output 3D real-time surfaces at the pixel level, the benefits of the technology include improved target recognition and ranging, streamlined real-time processing, and installed with minimal modifications. Photon-X is commercializing portions of the SPI Platform for industrial and consumer uses including robotics, industrial NDT, and 3D biometric identifications.
