Description

The USAF needs a next-generation scalable simulation training solution for airfield repair. Current training provides a very limited firsthand experience. They believe that by providing a virtual reality training environment that the training outcomes will increase substantially. It will also provide the ability for trainers to oversee and manage a large scale training exercise from a virtual 3D tabletop display - enabling the trainers to both watch any part of the simulated exercises in detail, and to play & review training procedures with the staff. Once developed, this capability can be quickly scaled up to train staff both CONUS and OCONUS. To address this need, we propose RTI ADRSim SDK. It leverages our commercial, open standards-based, TRL 9 connectivity software used across the DoD. This will expedite its development. It is well suited to support the requirements for the simulation-based ADR training exercises. It will transform the current USAF standalone simulator prototype by: 1) enabling the integration of the existing Unity3D-based ADR software-based management system; 2) scaling to over 100 concurrent VR users; 3) providing a developer SDK so the system can be easily extended; 4) providing a multi-level secure communications framework (over DoD IP networks) for global access.
