Description

By building upon the current DESIDe (Digital Engineering Supporting Decisions) framework which was developed by previous SBIR projects with AFRL, the Securboration Team will incorporate specific MIDS JTRS program management, business management, and systems engineering technical artifacts into a single digital engineering environment that will support program managers and chief engineers as they analyze alternative program options and make critical decisions that impact cost and schedule, as well as, technical performance of the overall MIDS JTRS system. A critical component of the DESIDe system is the ability to efficiently ingest large amounts of existing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data artifacts and store this data and a defined relational database architecture. Through many years of previous work with the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) and other government organizations, the Securboration Team has developed unique methods for creating models associated with different document types and the ability to rapidly tailor/tune these document models to new instances to be able to efficiently identify and extract the key elements of a document that can then be parsed and stored in a database structure. The key elements of each document can then be connected/linked to key elements of related documents to create the “Digital Thread”. The Digital Twin(s) of the MIDS JTRS system will be designed and integrated into the DESIDe environment and connected/linked to the other technical data products related to MIDS JTRS and the aircraft and ground systems that incorporate the Tactical Data Link system.  The MIDS JTRS Digital Twin will include the key performance attributes/parameters that are specified as requirements and captured and reported upon as part of the overall operations and maintenance process.  These parameters will be presented to the DESIDe User in both graphical and tabular formats and support specific analysis functions defined by the User. Working with the MIDS JTRS manufactures (Viasat and DLS), the Securboration Team will design the database schema that will support managing the relationships between all the technical data products expected to be included in the MIDS JTRS digital engineering environment. These products will include Program Management products like WBS, SOW, IMP/IMS along with Business Management products like proposal baselines (cost and schedule) and EVMS, as well as, the System Engineering products like system architecture, system model, requirements, test procedures, test reports, and maintenance/logistics data. By connecting the PM/BM data products with the SE data products and DTw instances in the DT, the DESIDe system will link the associated cost and schedule components with the technical elements to support a more complete analysis and assessment of the MIDS implementation within a particular system and across multiple systems.
