Description

For Structured Application Protection Process-Cyber Mission Impact Modeling (SAPP-CMIM) we propose a robust framework predicated on the Cyber Mission Resilience (CMR) concept. CMR is grounded in a State of the Art (SoS) construct that posits the mission(s) conduct as the primary, and singular operational objective. As such, CMR is achieved when the effects of a single (or multiple) cyber-attacks can be modeled and introduced into a (simulated) mission engagement (or Kill Chain) for the purpose of defining how and where cyber-induced degradations impede a defined mission’s success. An improved quantitative, specific, and repeatable process is needed to assess cyber risk in the context of how that risk contributes to the potential for mission failure within the CMR construct. At the end of Phase II, we provide a medium fidelity digital product with the baseline requirements for including cyber threats in a digital simulation. This SAPP-CMIM module quantifies cyber threats and can be used in war-gaming to train the war fighter. Approved for Public Release 19-MDA-10203 (4 Sep 19)
