Wearable active-heating technologies are necessary for improving the performance of active duty personnel in extreme environments. To enable lightweight, low-power, practical active-heating garments, the best strategy is to transform widely available commodity fabrics into sewable Joule heating elements. Soliyarn does this using our unique vapor-coating technology that can be scaled for high throughput assembly line production. We are currently under contract with Special Operations Command (SOCOM) to develop a heating glove prototype that they can further test in the field. This contract is based on work published by Soliyarn founders Trisha Andrew and Morgan Baima, who have demonstrated unmatched glove performance in a lab environment. Our fabrics require one-millionth the amount of power of the conductive thread solution currently used by the military, and heated gloves are only one of many smart products that can be realized with our vapor-coating technology. We propose the most facile path to commercialization via SBIR support in conjunction with SOCOM and military glove manufacturer Mike Christian of Climb and Place.
