Description
StreetCred is a marketplace for real-time point-of-interest data for maps. We have worked with commercial partners to gather data in the US and SE Asia, and are actively extending the platform to collect data in hard-to-access regions. Users interact with StreetCred through a consumer app available on iOS and Android phones, and create real-time map data using gamification mechanisms and directed in-app incentives. We see an opportunity to extend the platform to collect high-quality map data in offline and GPS-denied environments. Based on our customer discovery with potential DoD customers, we've realized the importance of crowdsourced data in a wide variety of regions with on-the-ground technical challenges. StreetCred will develop "Map Now, Upload Later" technology to allow users to create accurate map data in low-connectivity situations, and sync it to the platform later when connected to the internet. Additionally, we have already developed technology for users to locate themselves on a map and correct a POI's coordinates by dragging and dropping a pin on the map, aided by cartographic hints and familiar compass bearings. We would like to extend this to allow mapping in GPS-denied environments by using other sensors on the phone to make a user-friendly experience so data can be shared in a wide variety of situations, including disaster scenarios where map data becomes critical. StreetCred generally collects 20K POIs/month in our exercises, we would like to develop this technology and collect 10K POIs offline, and 10K POIs without GPS to prove that the platform can work with these constraints.
