Description

The scope of this Phase I effort will focus on understanding simulation enhancement efforts and investigating tooling required to produce a cloud hosted, collaborative SoS simulation.  This effort will allow AFAMS to leverage cutting edge technologies to enable warfighters to train in comprehensive, relevant, more realistic scenarios. Integrating distributed simulation technologies is time-consuming and technically challenging. This effort proposes research into the development of cloud-hosted simulation environments that are easily integrated with existing simulators to produce comprehensive System of Systems simulations.  Research will first target an understanding of USAF plans for integrated SoS test environments. Notional requirements will then be developed for a simulation deployment tool that will allow collaborative configuration and deployment of a cloud-based simulation environment. A notional architecture of a cloud-based simulation environment will then be developed that will meet current and future USAF simulation needs.  Finally, candidate systems for integration will be identified and a plan to accomplish the integration will be developed.  Tangram plans to accomplish work in the following four task areas:   Investigating USAF plans for integrated SoS test environments Investigating development of a simulation deployment tool for AFAMS Investigating architecture of a cloud-based simulation environment Investigating integration of existing simulators to a cloud-based simulation environment
