Description
Triton Systems, Inc. and partners will develop a 360-degree 3D visualization capability for Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to provide operators with depth perception and situational awareness. Current ROVs camera systems only provide a two-dimensional view, forcing ROV pilots to compensate for lack of depth perception by learning to use shadows and other tactics. ROVs work in environments with little to no light, confined spaces, and require precise movements. Acoustic solutions are expensive and large both of which are not ideal for traditional inspection class ROVs. Triton’s universal payload improves the ROV pilot’s ability to perceive his surroundings and the position the manipulator precisely relative to the target.
