Description
The proposed effort will focus on making improvements to the fuel tank fittings used on self-sealing fuel tank bladders for military rotorcraft. These fittings and fuel bladder wall transition areas are points of high stress concentration due to large material property gradients and therefore often are the cause of tank failure during significant hydrodynamic ram events. In this effort Triton Systems will design and demonstrate functionally-graded and topologically-optimized fittings for self-sealing fuel tank bladders for military aircraft to improve crash-worthiness and reduce weight.
