Description
Current acoustic channel assemblies (ACAs) in towed arrays consist of an acoustic section comprised of multiple hydrophones and separate telemetry module. They are connected via micro-miniature connectors. With this design, the density of sensors that can be achieved within an array is limited, and assembly costs account for 20% of the overall cost of a towed array. Triton Systems, Inc. will develop a hydrophone and acoustic channel assembly (ACA) that is compatible with the Open Architecture Telemetry standard, embeds all the telemetry electronics, increases sampling density, reduces noise from the turbulent boundary layer, and reduces costs associated with touch labor.
