Description

This Small Business Technology Transfer STTR) / Small Business Infrastructure Research SBIR) project will support research and development to build the prototype for a software platform and storage device blending cloud, local, and HPC storage to improve the productivity and capabilities of scientists and researchers acquiring massive images by circumventing data bottlenecks that encumber visualization, analysis, and management workflows. We will provide an easy-to-plug-in solution that combines software with local hardware and enables cloud-access to acquisition information as well as on-demand data access that can be easily and efficiently integrated into existing workflows. This STTR/SBIR Phase I research will show that we can generalize and commercialize our solution for integration into the pipeline for new devices and emerging disciplines such as biological, environmental, material sciences, and semiconductors. This STTR/SBIR Phase I will support the development and deployment of 1) accessible storage directly connected to the data source, allowing the seamless blend between cloud and local data access for Large Scale Experimental facilities, industry, and small laboratories, and 2) ensure preliminary integration of existing workflows through Python. Phase I we will investigate user workflows for data analysis, authentication requirements, and device diagnostic requirements, enabling us to develop software connecting a broad range of devices to our solution for a vast number of smaller engineering and science labs in Phase II.
