Description
The Holloman Maglev Track (HMT) was developed by the Air Force in order to magnetically move a rocket sled system which allows the Air Force to test missiles, ejection seats and other mission critical systems that must be demonstrated and validated at the high speeds at which these important systems would be deployed. The HMT system consists of a rocket propelled sled that is affixed with low temperature superconducting (LTS) magnets. American Maglev Technology (AMT) and its Team of engineers is pleased to offer this proposal based on a High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) solution and/or a commercially available Linear Induction Motor (LIM) that will be scaled to fit the sled for testing purposes at HTM. Recent advancement is HTS magnets offer the opportunity to reduce operational costs while also increasing the performance of the HMT sled. In addition, HTS magnets require only liquid nitrogen cooling, which is an order of magnitude cheaper than liquid helium.
