Description

Executing time sensitive analysis tasks can lead to an uneven distribution of workload and fatigue across the processing, exploitation, and dissemination (PED) crew, impacting Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission performance. Given the challenge of optimizing tasking to ensure mission essential intelligence is processed efficiently and effectively in support of operational units, we propose to develop MOTOR (Management of Tasks through Optimization and Reallocation), a workload management system that recommends dynamic task reallocation across the PED crew based on unobtrusive measures of workload, fatigue, and cognitive state. Our approach integrates and enhances two unique capabilities from SBIR-funded efforts to create the workload measurement and task allocation recommender system. Workload measurement is accomplished by measuring and inferencing over multi-modal human-computer interactions (HCI). Interactions are fed into a task inferencing capability that compares the current HCI event stream to baselines to assess the analyst’s current task. We then infer the analyst’s workload by developing metrics from the HCI event stream for specific tasks. Task possibilities and workload assessments are combined at the individual and team level to generate a recommendation for which analyst should complete a given task.
