Description
Through the use of Ascentia Imaging’s modern Accu-Arc sensors the USAF’s future measurement system for jack-to-jig operations could be dramatically simplified compared to today’s systems. We propose that our system could result in: • Far less set-up time and operator training • Reduced cost of operation through simple or automatic operation and continuous self-calibration • Potentially increase overall system height measurement precision, while also providing 6DOF measurements if needed • And, possibly increase operator safety by requiring only minimal attention from the operators. Ascentia Imaging, Inc has an off-the-shelf real-time ultra-precision angle sensor called the Accu-Arc™. Instead of bulky, heavy and complicated instruments like Total Stations the Accu-Arc is small (a cube approximately 2 on a side), has a 40 degree FOV and no moving parts, can measure 16 targets simultaneously with up to a 100 Hz update rate. All 16 targets can be measured with arc-second precision and simultaneous sampling enabling both dynamic and high-precision estimates of targets in the field or view at a high update rate. The entire system has been designed to deliver the highest possible measurement precision in challenging commercial, industrial and military applications.
