Description
Fatigue, which degrades airmen’s ability to perform vital maintenance operations, could be halved through the incorporation of exoskeleton assistance. BiConvex intends to bring that capability to USAF through its SkelEx v1 and 360 non-powered exoskeleton systems. The BiConvex + SkelEx system provides 40% reduction in muscle activity for Deltoids, Trapezius, Latissimus Dorsi, and Biceps, halving the torque required to hold the arms up while working in the front/overhead areas. This capability allows users to double their duration of working in these conditions, common in USAF maintenance applications. In addition to boosting work accuracy, the system also significantly reduces work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WSMD) and associated downtime/healthcare costs. The BiConvex + SkelEx system weighs 2 Kg, making it one of the lightest exoskeletons in the world. The system allows for 3D range of motion, allowing complete biological movement of arms. The system is available in two distinct sizes, which fit all all human frames via and are adjustable to the individual. The system allows for an augmented 8kg of lifting force, adjustable from 0 to 4 kg per arm.
