Description
Black River Systems is developing real-time fire control tracking and threat prediction capabilities for land and sea - based missile defense. Our nation faces a rapidly evolving set of missile threats that exhibit extreme velocities, high dynamic motion and difficult to predict maneuverability. There are many different trajectories and many types of threats: subsonic, supersonic; sea-skimming, land-hugging; coming in from above and dropping down on top. Traditional fire control approaches that estimate a target state using data from a single terminal radar may prove ineffective in this expanding context. To meet the ever-evolving challenge, a flexible and expandable multi-sensor, multi-target, multi-model framework is needed that can be rapidly configured with specific threat models and multiple sensor configurations to achieve the necessary accuracy for terminal fire control intercept. A real-time capable software package is envisioned – easily configured with new sensor models, threat models and integral bias mitigation strategies as needed to address the evolving threat space.
