Description
This is a proposal for logging and mathematically enhancing fight data, to be used in post-flight debrief of aerobatic flights. Raw data will be collected with an iOS device (iPhone or iPad) using its built-in sensors and external GPS device. This proposal addresses the challenges with currently available devices (“pucks�): (1) GPS signal loss when the aircraft is at unusual attitudes, (2) ARHS data inaccurate and often corrupted in unusual attitudes and high Gs. (3) The transmission of the flight data immediately after the flight requires manual steps, sometimes cumbersome, and sometimes not possible. The proposed solution has the potential to address all of those challenges.
