Description

The DoD Medical Health Systems (MHS)seeksameans to collect, transport, and share patientcareinformation between disparateelectronicmedical record systems in austerelocations that lacksufficient or reliabletelecommunicationsconnectivity. Thesolution they seek must bereliablein deliveringlargeamounts of patient medical information, durablein demandingmilitaryenvironments, adaptableto current and evolvingtactical medial information systems, securein meetingall required areas of COMSEC and patient privacy, and cost-effective over theentire program life-cycle. Concentris proposes to develop the Smart Assured Records (STAR) Tagsystem which providesarobust wirelesscapability to securely collect, store, and disseminatemedical information from thetactical theater to the hospitalelectronic health records (EHR)system. Each STAR Tagisasmall, low-cost,rugged wireless network-enabled devicemechanically tethered to a wounded patient. The STAR tag wirelessly sharesand accumulates medical data with thelocal tactical EHR systems itencounters duringtheevacuation from the operational theater until it reachesamedical treatment facility that has fully connected EHR capabilities. At which point the STAR Tag willautomatically wirelessly uploaded theaccumulated patient medical records to the hospital’s EHR system.
