Description

The aerospace sustainment community has the need to augment the human body’s ability to lift and hold objects while keeping the natural range of motion. Aerospace maintainers are required to lift and move heavy objects of various sizes to perform normal maintenance such as corrosion removal. Cornerstone Research Group Inc.’s (CRG) demonstrated expertise in innovative design and systems integration presents the Air Force with the opportunity to obtain heavy lifting technology tailored to meet the requirements of the aerospace maintainer. The proposed innovation for a modular heavy lift aid will be a superior, innovative system that can fit onto existing lift trucks, loaders, and utility vehicles, both wheeled and tracked. The aid will provide micro-movement control with multiple degrees of freedom, enabling precise positioning and indefinite stabilization of heavy objects in a variety of unfavorable environments and terrains. Interchangeable grips will allow the aid to accept various objects with diverse shapes and sizes and also easily extending to support in related markets. The proposing team's track record of delivering innovation rapidly positions CRG for successful implementation of a modular heavy lift aid meeting the Air Force’s operational needs.
