Description
CRG proposes to reduce the weight of gun barrels, including tank, howitzer, and mortar tubes, with its proprietary MG resin systems and composites. MG composites represent a new class of light weight, low-cost, easy-to-process high-temperature structural materials. They enable the use of light weight composites in gun barrels, reducing weight and cost, while enhancing lifespan and robustness. MG resin is low-viscosity at relatively low processing temperatures and compatible with a variety of reinforcements, enabling multiple manufacturing processes. CRG has previously demonstrated the high temperature capability of the materials, as well as the ability to filament wind over a metal mandrel in combination with IM7 carbon tow. Resin batch production has been scaled to 20 kg (45 lbs) batches, with clear routes forward for further scale up.
