Description

In this SBIR, DTI proposes to design an MVDC Casualty Power System (CPS) which employs a combination of equipment permanently installed in each designated ship zone, and easily portable conductors that the crew can use jumper across damaged zones. This equipment will be designed to address the new challenges associated with highly integrated high power MVDC shipboard power systems, within the emerging architectures and standards for these systems. In Phase I, DTI will design and prototype this system for evaluation and testing in a shipboard environment. In Phase II, DTI will fully engineer, build and test a complete MVDC CPS prototype, incorporating all applicable manufacturing and installation standards. Throughout this effort DTI will work closely with the Navy and its Prime Contractors to transition the technology to the fleet in Phase III.
