Description

To address the Army’s need for a real-time debris pattern estimation and graphical planning tool, Intellisense Systems, Inc. (ISI) proposes to develop a new Debris Impact Prediction and Location Mapping for Autonomous Termination (DIPLOMAT) software tool based on a novel combination of mature debris prediction algorithms, a convenient new graphical planning tool, and an innovative new neural network-based real-time debris pattern estimator. Specifically, the innovation in real-time updating of debris patterns with a highly accurate neural network approximation model will enable the software tool to determine missile state vector and debris pattern estimation maps onboard the missile on a continuous basis. As a result, this tool offers real-time evaluations of missile flight accuracy and predicted debris fallout to enable replacement of current man-in-the-loop processes with autonomous termination decision making, which directly addresses the Army’s requirements. In Phase I, ISI will demonstrate the feasibility of DIPLOMAT by identifying the necessary measurements, overall proposed functionality, preliminary mapping solution, and identification of required data rate. In Phase II, ISI plans to develop and demonstrate a DIPLOMAT prototype in a realistic environment, and to conduct testing to prove feasibility over extended operating conditions.
