Description
Addressing the Army’s need to incorporate optical backbone networks into rotorcraft, Intellisense Systems, Inc. (ISI) proposes to advance development, in Phase II, of the Mission-Capable Scalable Open-Architecture Photonics (McSOAP) system proven feasible in Phase I. Adhering to open-architecture standards including Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA), HOST Tier 1 and Tier 2, and Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA), ISI investigated Tier 3 implementation utilizing a combination of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and ISI custom solutions. The outcome of this investigation has led to the development of a system architecture and electrical design that includes innovations to ensure IMA/HOST/SOSA compliance, while leveraging existing COTS solutions that conform to HOST standards. ISI has actively engaged key suppliers to define and identify a technology roadmap to address the Army requirements. In Phase II, ISI will perform a detailed design of components for integration into an aviation mission processing architecture that leads to fabrication of components and integration of a prototype for testing against developed test plans and procedures for supporting relevant operating environments. Verification and validation of the scalability and fault-detection capabilities will be demonstrated. Based on the progress during Phase II, we will refine our transition plan for beyond-Phase II testing and platform integration.
