Description
The development of pulsed Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs) delivering pulse average optical power exceeding 10W in a nearly Gaussian output beam (M2 < 1.3) with wallplug efficiency exceeding 20% is proposed. Pulse width and duty cycle for fully packaged devices to be delivered to Army will be adjustable and their maximum values will exceed 700ns and 7%, respectively. The new devices will benefit a very diverse set of critical DoD applications, including DIRCM, remote powering of electrical devices, and free space optical communications.
