Description

This work details the proposed single antenna eigen decomposition (SAED) algorithm to providing anti-jam protection to single antenna GPS users. The focus of this work was for dismounted soldiers and small size platforms which cannot use more common anti-jam technology, e.g. CRPA antennas, to position in the presence of radio frequency interference. The process in which the proposed algorithm removes interference is by FIR filtering in which filter weights are optimally estimated using eigenvalue analysis. Additionally, this proposal shows performance data of the SAED algorithm in various jamming environments as well as how a commercial GPS receiver is affected when used with the proposed algorithm in both benign and jamming scenarios. The work concludes by suggesting ways in which this algorithm can be used as a standalone appliqué or be licensed to be a built in feature of a GPS receiver.
