Description
Airlocks are used to isolate a clean area from a surrounding contaminated environment. Current airlock designs employ inefficient doors and require a large volume of air to flush the contaminants from the airlock. There is a need for an innovative airlock design that enables a faster passage time without compromising the cleanliness of the protected shelter. This project seeks to address the need for a novel nonmixing, rapid-escape airlock that meet the following requirements: • Less than 60 second passage time • 99.99% removal of vapor or particulate contaminants • Comparable footprint and air requirements to the current technologies • Portable for easy transport and installation LaunchBay will design and develop a new airlock with a novel entry mechanism that eliminates or significantly reduces the transfer of contaminants from the outside environment to the inside of the airlock
