Description
Non-lethal weapons (NLWs) fill a strategic role in developing and maintaining security in military and law enforcement applications. Human Electro-Muscular Incapacitation (HEMI) devices are routinely used for subduing and apprehending targets rather than resorting to lethal methods of force protection. However, current devices are tethered, limiting the use range to less than 10 meters, and they only disable targets for around 5 seconds. The high rate of effectiveness of these devices creates a desire to extend their use to ranges up to 100 meters while subduing the target for several minutes. Previous DoD-sponsored efforts for this technology have not been addressed in the last decade. Technology advancements during this time suggest these objectives are now within reach. Lynntech has a history of successful HEMI munition development. Here, Lynntech’s research and electronics development will be leveraged to design an advanced munition to address these challenges, using the latest in advanced electronics and materials. Lynntech’s HEMI projectile development efforts are targeted at meeting or exceeding the technical requirements of the Marine Corps for extended range and duration of engagement and time of incapacitation. The Phase I goal is to show feasibility of the design and operation for further development and prototyping.
