Description
Lynntech proposes to produce an affordable energetic feedstock for use with commercial, off the shelf additive manufacturing tools. Lynntech will continue to use the traditional Navy technique of an elastomeric binder composite with an energetic material such as RDX. The traditional binder, HTPB has long been understood to provide desirable mechanical characteristics but is non-energetic reducing overall formulation performance. Energetic polymer chemistries also exist, and some of these provide similar mechanical performance to that of cured HTPB. Lynntech will explore these chemistries, as well as previously unexploited chemistries, to develop an optimized binder formulation and protocol for use in additive manufacturing processes to be tested during this Phase I effort.
