Description
We M&J Engineering, Inc. (Please note that M&J Engineering is a certified SBA 8A firm since April 8, 2015.), along with our research partner, Thorton Tomasetti-Weidlinger Applied Science, propose to review current modeling standards, plan the development of new standards, create prototype software that implements and automates reviews of FEM model compliance with the standards, and begin to investigate new technology for model review and quality control. The new standards will address the highly detailed FEM models characteristic of complex submarine structures, whose geometry is represented by solid, rather than shell, elements. The standard or new design manual will define a set of parameters which can be used by shipyards when performing FEA. . The goal for the manual will be to provided specific directions regarding how complex geometries will be modeled. The manual will be validated against physical models
