Essential to supporting the requirements from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy nuclear communities, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Nuclear Enterprise Support Office (NESO) provides essential support to aging nuclear systems that are expected to remain in service for the next 20 to 25 years. Challenged by part obsolescence, company mergers and sales, loss of technical data, and aging technologies, the need for the DLA to find companies to produce high quality parts for aging equipment is critical to future sustainment. The proposed Phase I effort will complete the development of a Source Approval Request (SAR) package for NSN 2838-01-490-5593 – VANE ASSEMBLY, COMPR. The objective is to complete the SAR process for this item to improve product availability and increase competition using the government technical data. We will create the SAR manufacturing plan and manufacture the vane assembly validating the plan with an end result of becoming a qualified source that will be responsive to future solicitations from the DLA for the item. By completing this effort and becoming more familiar with the process we will look to complete a second SAR package in Phase II with the added complexity of requiring the expertise of our reverse engineering
