Description

Across the United States (US) Department of Defense (DoD) there is growing concern about the US’s ability to counter emerging air and missile threats from peer and near-peer adversaries. The coordinated use of all available sensor and weapon assets may serve to reduce the advantages afforded to our adversaries by these new threats. The Army’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) program seeks to “encompasses the full range of force operations and engagement operations functions needed to exploit the full combat potential of Air and Missile Defense capabilities on the battlefields of tomorrow.” To support this objective Numerica proposes to develop new technologies that enable non-traditional engagements in the IAMD Battle Command System (IBCS). The defeat of emerging threats may require combined resources from multiple sensors and that these sensors may not always be radars. The IBCS Composite Tracker that Numerica develops has been successfully demonstrated through the IBCS Developmental Testing (DT) flight test program. However, successful engagement of advanced threats will require new technologies to improve the fire control loop and incorporate non-traditional sensor data. The proposed program will support the development and analysis of architectures and algorithms to mature support for non-traditional engagement within IBCS.
