Description
OSD solicits vendors for a ‘High Acceleration and Hypervelocity Inertial Measurement Unit System’ for use in 155mm projectiles. Development of a gun-hardened and highly miniaturized IMU would revolutionize the way in which 155mm gun systems are employed. A 155mm projectile with guidance, navigation and control would enable the development of new systems such as precision gun launched missile defense projectiles and gun launched UAV’s which can be quickly delivered to target areas. Quality Support Inc. is proposing to design and build a highly survivable Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that will meet the allocated Space-Weight-Power (SWaP) requirements. Our proposed IMU leverages our relevant technologies and expertise and will implement multiple commercially available MEMS sensors using an innovative approach to achieve the required performance. In addition we will leverage Progeny’s electronics and MEMS sensors gun-hardening expertise in order to develop an overall IMU packaging solution that will provide reliable shock protection to 50,000 g’s.
