Description
In the 4th quarter of 2017 QuakeWrap® Inc. (QW) received the Phase I grant from the USDepartment of Agriculture (USDA) / National Food and Agriculture (NIFA) under its SmallBusiness Innovation and Research (SBIR) Program for improvement and agricultural/irrigationapplications of its InfinitPipe® technology. The new technology offers an economical pipe that can be built in urban and rural areas alike. Thisinexpensive and durable pipe can provide a solution for major agriculture and urban developmentprojects that require large supplies of water. In many cases these projects are delayed or eliminatedfrom further consideration due to the high cost of pipelines particularly if the source water is faraway from the point of discharge/irrigation.The primary objective is to develop a game-changing new technology for construction of pipelineswhereby a sandwich construction Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) pipe is manufactured in acontinuous manner in the field. This method of construction will result in significant time and costsavings in construction of pipelines for drinking water and agricultural use. To achieve this goal adesign method for InfinitPipe was improved protypes were made and the issue of permeabilitywas addressed by the QuakeWrap team in Phase I. The Phase II goal is making this noveltechnology market ready via developing design guidelines automating manufactureandcompleting a comprehensive commercialization plan
