Description
Radioembolization using Ymicrospheres delivered into the hepatic artery under fluoroscopy guidance has slowed tumor progression in the liver for patients diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancermCRCTreatment planning is based on a simple estimate of the average absorbed doseADdelivered to the treated volumetumor dose thus depends on tumor burden and tumor to background ratioresulting in under dosing in some patientsDosing based on more rigorouspatient specific AD to normal liver would allow safely increasing administered activitylikely improving tumor responsewithout an increased toxicityThe goal of this work is to improve the outcome of patients with mCRC by implementing a cloud based treatment planning software service using rigorous quantitative imaging and dosimetry methodsWe will perform a pilot study involvingpatients to demonstrate feasibility of recruitingimagingand performing the treatment planningvalidate the reproducibility catheter placementadd and verify quantitative Tcm MAA SPECT CT reconstruction capabilityverify that AD to normal treated liver estimated from Tcm MAA predicts the normal liver AD measured using quantitative Ybremsstrahlung SPECTvalidate automated segmentation of liver in Tcm MAA SPECT CT imagesdevelop and validate a proof of principle cloud based software serviceand obtain approval for the Phase II project s dose escalation trial
