Description

Currently, Air Force personnel responsible for maintaining and delivering Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) expend numerous hours above and beyond their normal duties keeping track of AGE. In fact, AGE dispatchers use a paper process for knowing which piece of equipment came in contact with which aircraft system. The purpose of this research is to develop and automate the AGE tracking process by using attachable/detachable GPS receivers on AGE and a centralized cloud database technology. The system is called New AGE Tracking System or NATS for short. In total, there are three phases to this research and development effort. Phase I entails conducting interviews with AGE Stakeholders and prepping for a prototype system. Phase II undergoes the design and build of a prototype system to conduct developmental and some operational testing supported by AGE Stakeholders. Phase III comprises building the final system and the beginning of integrating NATS into selected AGE Units for operational use.
