Description
United States military field operations are increasingly at risk to electronic warfare, particularly those that disrupt RF communications. Free Space Optical Communication (FSOC) provides immunity to traditional RF jamming, and has an incredibly low possibility of detection or interception. SA Photonics’ LightNET is a new networking communications capability implemented using meshed FSOC technology in SWIR. This man-portable system can be installed at command outposts in minutes providing multi-Gbps connectivity to a distributed network of optical nodes. Self-identification, network healing, automatic acquisition, full duplex functionality and the ability to operate in the harshest conditions make LightNET a unique tool enabling warfighter operation in complex and denied environments.
