Description

Towed array movement, as identified by the Navy, is reducing sensor performance and overall material readiness. Sedna Digital Solutions has the technical and technology transition expertise to develop and commercialize a passive control system that stabilizes the aft end of the towed fat line arrays mitigating low-frequency movement and oscillation during operational conditions. The Sedna team will develop a concept for a flat line towed array aft-end array stabilization device. The concept will be stable at all tow speeds, not significantly increase drag at high speeds, and not impact acoustic displays with detectable noise. In parallel, Sedna will perform detailed analysis of unclassified non-acoustic sensor data to characterize array movement through water while being towed at various speeds. Findings will highlight a prototype device design and provide a quantitative method of evaluation and validation of device effectiveness during later phases. This effort will increase mission readiness and decrease maintenance costs for Fleet operators.
