Description
The purpose of the present effort is to provide a capability to the Joint Standard Instrumentation System (JSIS) for fusion of multiple sources of atmospheric characterization data into a single, unified, coherent description of the atmospheric state. JSIS is used to collect signature data, Time-Space-Position-Information (TSPI), acoustic data, and relevant metadata of threat missile and HF munitions during live fire test events. It requires an accurate characterization of the atmospheric state to correctly incorporate absorption, scattering and refractivity impacts on observed signatures. Spectral Sciences, Inc. (SSI) proposes the development of the Fusion Engine for Atmospheric Data (FEAD) system for use within JSIS. FEAD instrumentation and software fuses all available atmospheric data into a comprehensive and self-consistent description of the atmospheric state. The FEAD system will provide spatial maps of temperature, pressure, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, aerosol properties, and concentrations of atmospheric gases such as CO2, O3, SO2, N2O, and CH4.
