Description

The objective of this proposal is to investigate the feasibility of a pilot project that demonstrates the benefits of secure monitoring of individual high-value assets such as precision-guided munitions or pharmaceutical samples using our Dachshund solution. The Air Force acquires and manages many individual high-value and sensitive assets such as munitions, electronic warfare systems, etc. These assets experience significant adverse effects if exposed to environmental elements or excessive shock during extended storage or shipping. Monitoring the exposure of individual high-value assets from manufacturing to installation helps to make important decisions about the readiness and effectiveness of the asset as well as take precautions to prevent future exposures. Currently, there is no secure way of knowing the status of these individual assets other than manual inspection, which is not only expensive but also prone to errors. Our Dachshund solution is purpose-built for monitoring individual high-value assets as it provides device-centric cybersecurity, end-to-end data security, long battery life, and remote configurability. Dachshund consists of a hardware device to collect environmental condition data and a cloud dashboard for secure data storage and visualization. Our goal is to demonstrate Dachshund’s capability in monitoring individual munitions for the Air Force and Army.
