Description

The objective of this SBIR Phase I proposal is to investigate the feasibility of a pilot deployment of our secure high-value asset monitoring solution in the US Air Force. High-value assets such as aircraft engines and weapon systems are misplaced or subjected to environmental conditions leading to physical damage/corrosion due to infrequent manual monitoring. While many COTS monitoring devices are available in the market, several unique features associated with high-value asset monitoring regarding (a) cybersecurity, (b) extended battery life, and (c) remote configurability require a purpose-built solution. The resource constraints of these devices make it challenging to program device firmware such as to achieve these unique features. Our solution, Beagle, is purpose-built for secure monitoring of high-value assets using SensorHound’s patented technology that enables advanced software reliability and cybersecurity despite severe resource constraints. Beagle is currently being piloted in the commercial sector including a Fortune 500 company. Beagle can track the location and monitor multiple environmental indicators: humidity, temperature, ambient light, motion, etc. Additional low-cost sensors, e.g., rotation, energy monitor, can be included. Beagle enables secure data collection using WiFi, cellular modem, and wired connection. The collected data can be accessed by authorized users via a web dashboard.
