Description

The Navy has a need for a transportable, ground-based laser target board to characterize military laser performance at operational ranges in an outdoor environment. Current laser target boards that measure laser power, divergence, and pointing accuracy are not rapidly deployable and easily transported throughout open-air military ranges. Technology Service Corporation (TSC) will leverage its twenty-plus years of experience in developing and fielding infrared test equipment used at open-air ranges for Test & Evaluation (T&E) of Missile Warning and Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) systems to develop the Laser Target and Analysis Board (LTAB) system. In the Phase I Base program, TSC will first define the LTAB system requirements, then generate design options and evaluate them through various trade studies including cost versus performance. TSC will then develop a candidate LTAB system, and a plan to implement and demonstrate a pre-production prototype in Phase II. In the Phase I Option program, TSC will continue the development of the prototype system design, and investigate designs for measurement capabilities of additional military lasers.
