Description
Assured positioning, navigation, and timing (A-PNT) requires constant vigilance against intentional and unintentional sources of coherent and non-coherent interference. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is especially vulnerable to attacks and must be defended through electronic protection (EP) measures such as anti-jam (AJ) and anti-spoof (AS). The proposed effort will investigate the state-of-the-art in anti-jam and anti-spoof technology using quad-band antenna electronics (AE) supporting the L1 (1575.42 MHz), L2 (1227.60 MHz), L5 (1176.45 MHz), and E6 (1278.75 MHz) frequency bands and other Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals such as from Galileo. In addition, Toyon will investigate both traditional AJ/AS methods, as well as novel approaches to overcoming and expanding the physical degrees-of-freedom (DOF) limitations of the antenna aperture. The proposed solution is anticipated to cost less and consume less than competing multi-element approaches. Based on our findings and in collaboration with the Government, a prototype design meeting the platform requirements and constraints will be developed in preparation for a Phase II demonstration. The result of the Phase II effort will be a fully developed AJ/AS antenna electronics system. The post-Phase II goal is to transition the prototype to a design that is qualified for full-scale production for airborne applications.
