Description

Assured positioning, navigation, and timing (A-PNT) requires constant vigilance against intentional and unintentional sources of coherent and non-coherent interference. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is especially vulnerable to attacks and must be defended through electronic protection (EP) measures such as anti-jam (AJ) and anti-spoof (AS). The proposed effort will investigate the state-of-the-art in anti-jam and anti-spoof technology using modular and expandable tri-band antenna electronics (AE) supporting the L1 (1575.42 MHz), L2 (1227.60 MHz), and L5 (1176.45 MHz) frequency bands for cost, size, weight and power (C-SWAP)-constrained platforms. In addition, Toyon will investigate both traditional AJ/AS methods, as well as novel approaches to overcoming and expanding the physical degrees-of-freedom (DOF) limitations of the antenna aperture. The proposed solution is anticipated to cost less and consume less than competing multi-element approaches. Based on our findings and in collaboration with the Government, a prototype design meeting the platform requirements and constraints will be developed in preparation for a Phase II demonstration. The result of the Phase II effort will be a fully developed AJ/AS antenna electronics system. The post-Phase II goal is to transition the prototype to a design that is qualified for full-scale production for airborne applications.
