Description
Vadum will design a millimeter-wave transmitter architecture that employs an innovative Time Domain Sub-Band (TDSB) technique to improve linearity while maintaining or improving efficiency. Linearity and efficiency enhancements in high power systems directly reduce SWaP. Vadum will demonstrate TDSB feasibility to improve the linearity by at least 20 dB for QPSK and QAM modulations, setting a new benchmark in high-efficiency millimeter-wave transmitters. TDSB is an enabling technology for spectrally efficient, low probability of intercept (LPI) point-to-point communication systems, electronic attack (EA), and radar tracking applications. Vadum will deliver TDSB specification and design trade-off guidelines targeting military and commercial applications, 1 – 1.5 GHz benchtop demonstrator of the technique, 27 GHz and 80 GHz conceptual designs for communication and radar transmitters, and architectures for device-agnostic (solid-state or tube) frequency scaling.
