Description
VRR, Inc. has developed systems demonstrated to enhance the training value of operator-in-the-loop simulations and scenario-oriented video training. VRR’s Above Real-Time Training (ARTT) software modules will enable ‘over training’ in the time dimension by accelerating the apparent passage of time in what is normally real-time simulation. ARTT modules added on to existing training simulations will support all the existing virtual simulations including Augmented and Mixed Reality based simulations, as well as new training systems. VRR’s Video-Hop supports similar time acceleration for training videos. ARTT research has demonstrated 20% to 42% performance benefits when transitioning from simulation to higher demand operations across multiple domains including air combat, emergency procedure, and tank gunnery. Multiple publications are included with the related research section. Most relevant to this proposed effort are prior ARTT successfully implementations on NASA simulations, AFRL Distributed Mission Training F-16 simulators, OpenSource FlightGear, and VRR’s own Fused Augmented Realties – User Interface (FAR-UI) for control of tactical drones. ARTT at 1.5X saves 1/3 sim-time for the same number of sim-trials, or alternatively enables 33% more sim-trials within the same real-world clock-time with improved transition from simulation to operational systems.
