Description
The purpose of this SBIR project is to further improve a newly developed rotorcraft acoustic solver to treat long distance propagation through general, realistic environments. This unique method, which utilizes non-dissipative and non-dispersive form of the wave equation, has so far demonstrated abilities to capture the dominant physical acoustics mechanisms for long range sound propagation, including diffraction, will be further improved for computational speed and adapted to conform to FACE standards. This subsequent Phase II effort will benefit the entire rotorcraft fleet within PEO Aviation by implementing a FACE conformant, near real-time, long-range acoustic propagation code. This effort fulfills one critical piece necessary for acoustic signature management to ensure mission success. This effort will immediately benefit PMs Apache and Utility, along with other DOD rotorcraft teams, by enabling successful acoustic signature management techniques. This work supports CSA S&T priorities Future Vertical Lift and Aviation Protection.
