Description
The Overall objective of what will be a three phase program is to develop a hose-end nozzle system capable of allowing the operator to hand select discharges of Ultra-High Pressure (UHP; 15 to 20 GPM @ 1000 to 1400 PSI) and Low Pressure (LP; 80 to 90 GPM @ 90 to 110 PSI) water streams at variable flow rates through a single hose line and application nozzle. Phase I demonstrated the feasibility of using a single pump, hose and nozzle system to provide both LP and UHP operation, and developed the dual pressure nozzle concept for prototyping. Under Phase II, further the development of the nozzle to provide a fully working prototype from which a commercially available nozzle would be performed. The following steps outline, in broad terms, the tasks envisioned for the Phase II effort. 1. Performance Development: Prototype design to achieve the desired spray performance characteristics of the nozzle for both UHP and LP modes. 2. Functionality Development: Prototype design for use, handling, and control. 3. Manufacture Design: Prototype design of components for manufacture and assembly. 4. Documentation: Produce the final report with documentation of the nozzle performance and design drawings.
