Description
Alphacore will develop a compact tunable surface mount component (capacitor bank) with tunable component range of more than 10:1. It will provide a tuning mechanism for a wide range of filter topologies with user selectable range of 10 bits. A capacitance selection from 100fF to 100pF using high density CMIM capacitors over small foot print for a variety of bands used in wide applications including a two-pole Chebyshev filter for S-band as required for this proposal. The tuning component will have on-chip, low power (20mW), wide-band 10bit ADC in small geometry process for band-sensing. The tuning component will have on-chip short-time Fourier transform (STFT) with polyphase filter bank (PFB) for band selection and loss detection to improve linearity of the filter. It will also have a unique and innovative switch resistance control that can be tuned using SPI to optimize the resonator performance.Alphacores Research Institution partner is Texas A&M University.
